News, news, glorious news...

WE've got a few updates for all of you!
First, the house search has continued for the past...um...many months. I haven't written about it because, frankly, it's been a little discouraging. Jon and I have submitted 5 offers of 5 different properties and have been out-bid. The house we originally started out with, the one I wrote about, slipped through our fingers as it went into foreclosure at the end of July. We were then told by our realtor that it would go back on the market in about one month. Not the case as we later found out. It had come back on within one week. Three weeks after it had been sold, the listing company put up a for sale sign in the yard. We IMMEDIATELY jumped on it like a pack of hyenas; and got a call back saying it was sold. We were bummed, but took it in stride. Later on, through out this process the same house came back on the market, this time re-done and without mold. However, the owner was asking much more than we were even qualified for and eventually did negotiate with us, but it was still too high for us. At this point we became majorly bummed out. This was after losing three other offers on homes. Recently, in the past week, we've seen a few houses and put in offers on two. They're both short-sales (very deceiving term) and so we've needed to wait to hear a response. The first one was more of an investment home that we didn't love, but would've been okay with, and it was a great price. So we went a head and signed a purchase agreement. Two days later another home came on the market. This home is slightly more expensive and has a decent amount of land to accompany a moderately sized home (in dire need of TLC). To put the cherry on top, it comes with a good sized pole-barn to Jon's enthusiastic delight. We took about 25 minutes to survey the home the first day it was ever on the market; jumped in our car and went and made an offer. That was Friday. Saturday we got a call telling us our offer had been accepted by the sellers! Now we're waiting on the bank. Waiting is the name of the game with short-sales, but we're praying for favor with the bank and a quick response on their part. I know the Lord has been leading us through this long process and we've learned many things that I think we needed to before purchasing a home- one we could both be happy with. Plus we've got a few extra pictures for you.
Right below, Jon is monkeying with an amplifier for his sound system. Something I secretly think he really likes to do. Beneath that is the first snow of this year. It's not even the middle of October, folks. I'm amazed. That is a picture right out my front door. We are in a shady spot, so the snow stuck around a little longer than everywhere else.

Secondly, Levi is growing like a bean! So, I've taken some new pictures. He's found out how to smile at things and enjoys doing so in front of curtains. I know he likes windows, but even when it's dark and the curtains are drawn he smiles (or is at least fixated) at them. Right now he's going through a growth spurt at 5+ weeks. He's almost a month and a half and just keeps learning and growing and eating a lot! He can also hold up his head when he has his tummy time. He does really well with that.

Erin, Great news about the house! We'll be praying all goes well with the bank. Levi is beautiful and is so big already. I can't believe it, he looks like a little man. This is such an excited time for your family. Thanks for posting the news and the pictures.
