Here is where I disagree with my Old Testament (ahem! First testament) history professor. Today in class she made a statement that I highly disagree with. Being Wordy Thursday the question pops up "what on earth can be so earth-shattering all having to do with two words?" Well, I'll tell you. Money. My wonderful professor, brilliant as she is, misplaced a monetarial value.
The word(s)? Mosaic Law
The price? $10!
From what I understand, a word's value, in the amounts of dollars, pesos, rupees, yen -whatever-, is not based on whether it sounds confusing, is hard to spell (mosaic? go figure), or is in portugese. According to Grandma (queen of all things miselaney), it is the length. "Mosaic" just doesn't make the cut, folks. Try tacking on at least a few more sylables with a few mis-matched consonents- back to back... and and perhaps you've got a $10 word.
~No, I don't spend all my time critiquing strange things that mean close to nothing, but the phrase "ten dollar word" piqued my interest half way through her lecture.
