Not Loosing My Ball in the Weeds...

For a while now, I've been puzzling over a few blog entries that I might want to make. Unsure of what to write about, I'll just let the river of words seep slowly on to the page, as water spilled onto a piece of paper. Gradually it spreads out.

My mind has been in a political mumbo-jumbo with today's momentous events. I can't decide whether to be happy (that we have a black man in office) or sad (that his politics are so threatening to life). I've come to a place in my heart where I know I'll need to sort this one out between God and myself. Though I know God is faithful, just, wise, and wonderfully full of grace, my mind cannot help but wander back down the worry path. I do not wish to worry, for this does the mind, heart, sould and body no good at all. I know whatever dilema comes of this newly seated office that God is merciful and sovereign over it all. I'm sure I need heart time with God to gain his perspective on this topic. I don't wish to rant about the speech I've heard is terrible, nor the ideals or lack there of this man seems to have, but rather to center my heart on things higher than any political office, higher than any nation. I wish to set my mind on the supremacy and rulling authority of our God of love; who out of this love will act justly. I wish to set my heart and mind on the thought that no founding forefather of our nation was sinless, no constitution is accurate, and no one but the Lord himself establishes rulers over a nation. No one but the Lord himself can create man, and no one but the Lord himself can see what our new president will do in the years to come. By His grace I will set my heart towards Him, and by His grace I will do my best to follow where He leads me- no matter the turmoil this nation could possibly, and may walk in to. By His grace I will pray for my leader with whom I disagree. By the work of the Holy Spirit in me, I will try to become more like Christ in politics. Some might say that is an oxi-moron. But I believe God is interested in our nation's heart, and our laws and if we will act according to his will or if we will run from it. He created, in the garden, us. Adam and Eve sinned, yet heard the footsteps of the Lord through the garden looking for his fallen creation. He loves us. He's interested in us. I can believe that He is interested in the establishment of righteousness in our nation.
