Jon and I have a whole lot to be thankful for. Many of you who read this, know exactly what I'm talking about. From what I've read and heard, Appendecitus if not treated properly and effeciently is life-threatening. I'm actually not exagerating. What happens when there is a ruptured appendix (which is attached to the large intesting- the one that creates solid waste) is that all the poisens from the bacteria fermenting get released into the body's cavities- which then become lethal.
In Jon's case, he had a ruptured appendix, but after it ruptured (earlier than we thought) a big absess started forming to "wall" off the lethal toxins. THAT also ruptured, which is what happened sunday morning. In other words, what was just some pain over a week ago, was an inflamed appendix about to rupture.
I (we) really feel that God had his hand on us from the very beginning. Sunday morning I happened to stay up all night, so I thought I'd just do some internet research to see if I could help take away some pain in Jon's abdomen. At this point I had no idea what we were in for. I did some "googleing" and found all the symptoms led to Appendecitus. Along with my advisor, who was on facebook at the time, and my mother we suspected Jon needed to go to the hospital. I woke Jon up and told him what I'd found, along with all the symptoms. Not seeming too worried, he went back to bed. As I was getting ready for church, he sat down and reviewed the information. Thats when the absess ruptured. Since one of the signs of rupture is release of pain, Jon knew right away to go to the hospital. So we had church in the ER.
About 3 hours later he was scheduled for surgery, and 4 hours after that came out all drugged up with tubes everywhere. Because the toxins had been released he had a Naso-gastric (NG) tube (goes in the nose to the stomach) to give his "guts" a rest and clear out any left-over poisen.
After the surgery we spent the next 4 days in the hospital getting better.
Not what we expected for thanksgiving, but I'm grateful that God told us to go to the hospital when we stopped to pray about it, I'm exceedingly gratefull to have a husband without a life-threatening situation, and grateful for both loving sides of our family who came to see us. We have a faithful God, a loving God, who cares. Thats better than anything we can ask for.

Erin,
Glad to hear Jon is now doing better. Praise God. That must have been really scary for the both of you.
